About :: BuShin Dojo
Bushin Dojo is headed by Sensei Kevin Sparkman, Godan. The dojo has thrived in various locations since Sparkman Sensei began teaching in the Nashville area in 1989. In 1995 Bushin Dojo found a more permanent location. Classes are held in the aerobics room of Gaines Fitness Center in the Hermitage area just outside of Nashville. Bushin Dojo is also affiliated with Vanderbilt University's Aikido Club. Training takes place on campus at the Student Recreation Center. This club was established in order to give local students an introduction to this art. Aikidoka from Bushin and Vanderbilt are welcome to attend one another's classes. Several students have come from Vanderbilt to study more extensively under Sparkman Sensei and have moved on to train elsewhere. One aikidoka in particular has even opend his own dojo it Atlanta. See our links page to open Emory Aikikai's website. Note that Vanderbilt is not open to the public. Although Sparkman Sensei has bee diagnosed with a tumor, he teaches when his health allows. When he is unable to teach, training is delegated to senior students, Erwin Ricafort, Brian Clark, and Brent Hatcher, Matt Lackey, and Baha Bahktiyarov. Know that these senpai are well studied and are more than capable enough to train their kohai. All have studied diectly under Sparkman Sensei for many years. |
